Aunt Dorothy’s Bread


In a large bowl, put 5 lbs. flour, reserving some for dusting.

Make a well in flour.  Add

3 pkg. dry yeast

palm of salt

palm of sugar

2 large tbsp. Crisco

4 cups warmed hot water

Let it set for yeast to proof

Mix well and knead until dough consistency

Let rise 2 - 3 hours

Punch Down

Make 4 -5 balls of dough.  Turn, slap and smack to get air bubbles out.  Put in bread pans.

Let rise 2 hours


Bake at 350 1 hour
